Workshop Sensor Building

THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED.

Sensors in a Smart City
Smart technology in the city. Ever heard of it?

Besides mobile phones, our homes, your school, and other buildings use ‘smart’ technology to keep a place safe, gain insight into energy consumption, or to make our lives easier. These digital applications are also increasingly appearing in public spaces. In traffic, it has been used for a while to, for example, turn the light green faster, but other smart digital innovations are now also seen in parks, the city center, at festivals, and even in our residential streets. A city that uses technology in the city is called a Smart City.

A sensor is an example of such technology. Sensors are devices that can measure things. For example, there are crowd and noise sensors integrated into light poles that anonymously record movement and sound in a dashboard. This way, enforcers can send a team more precisely in case of nuisance. And that’s just one example of a sensor application. There is, of course, much more possible!

Come and build a new sensor application!

Do you want to learn more about the smart city and the use of sensors? Join the Sensor Building workshop and design a new sensor application. With craft materials and real sensors, you will get to work. You don’t need any technical knowledge for this, and you will, of course, be helped by experts!
